Lake Tahoe holds a special place in Fearon and Chris DeWeese’s hearts. Fearon’s family has a cabin in Kings Beach, and the couple got engaged in Sand Harbor. They also married in South Lake Tahoe.
“We knew we wanted something in Tahoe,” says Fearon. “We looked at a lot of venues, but we fell in love with the Valhalla. As soon as we walked in, we said, ‘This is it. We don’t have to look any further.’”
An event coordinator at Arden Hills Resort Club and Spa, Fearon did most of the planning herself. She hired vendors she’d met from work who had become friends, and trekked up to Tahoe at least once per month to plan and finalize details, down to the peacock feathers tucked into each napkin. “No peacock feather is the same,” she says.
The ceremony took place inside the Valhalla Grand Hall with the reception on the lawn. “I wanted a very fun atmosphere but something formal and classy,” says Fearon. “Having an outdoor setting but nice linens drew them both together.”
The couple met while she worked at Paradise Valley Golf Course and shared their first kiss during an unexpected trip to Mexico. (His uncle flew her down.) “I knew I wanted to marry Chris from the moment we kissed on that balcony,” she recalls.
