On the music alone, Ashley Dyer and Todd Andrews’ wedding hit all the high notes: A Scottish bagpiper during the procession as a surprise for Dyer’s dad; Sacred Heart Church’s own Schola Cantorum (which sang for the Pope) during the ceremony; a Mariachi band at cocktail hour at the Sutter Club reception; and a classic-rock cover band for dancing.
“People at work were like, ‘Are you going to have a circus, too?’” says Dyer, a St. Francis High School graduate and account manager with the Sacramento PR firm Runyon Saltzman & Einhorn.
Dyer and Andrews, an East Sacramento dentist and Rio Americano High School graduate, met at Bandera while out with a group of friends. The two adjourned to 58 Degrees & Holding in midtown that evening. That was August 2006. “We’ve been inseparable ever since,” Dyer says.
Their engagement took place at home, with Andrews surprising Dyer on a weeknight as she was brushing her teeth before bed—rather than at the Napa winery she suspected would be the setting.
“My whole wedding was classic,” says Dyer, who chose white Tiffany invitations lettered in green and flowers in the same white and green color scheme. She also planned for comfort, ordering 110 pairs of Old Navy flip-flops as wedding favors and distributed them as the dancing began.
