These two doctors planned a beautiful wedding that incorporated some Kentucky traditions, live music from Hip Service and lots of dancing.

DOCTOR, DOCTOR—Jessie and Willis met on the first day of medical school orientation in Lexington, Kentucky, when they happened to sit together. A few years later, they moved to Sacramento to start residency at UC Davis (him: internal medicine; her: general surgery).
THE PROPOSAL—Jessie came home after a 24-hour call at the hospital, expecting to pull herself together for a wine-tasting trip with friends. Instead, she arrived to a pancake and mimosa breakfast prepared by Willis (after his own 24-hour call).
SOLEMN VOWS—The two wrote their own vows together the week before the ceremony—“a really special experience,” says Jessie. Rather than saying their vows one person at a time, they alternated, each saying a line at a time.
RECEPTION DETAILS—Jessie’s signature drink was a French 75, and Willis’s was an Old Fashioned with Kentucky bourbon. Dinner was served in a station format, so people could get up and mingle. The couple had their first dance to “Swept Away” by the Avett Brothers. “We loved that our guests spent so much time on the dance floor with us,” says Jessie.
