Summer Outside the City

There are a million and one reasons we love Lake Tahoe. From the smell of the Jeffrey Pines to the perpetually snow capped peaks, deep blue of the lake bottom to the endless fun of a ski weekend. Whatever season, Tahoe offers one of the most breathtaking backdrops for a wedding in California.

Memorial Day has come and gone, ushering in summer and thus wedding season. And while the mercury is rising in the valley, average temperatures in Lake Tahoe rarely exceed 80 degrees. It doesn’t get much better than Tahoe for summertime nuptials.

“To me, Lake Tahoe is all about relaxed elegance. Tahoe is stunning, and the lake allows for it to be a place for leisure but also peace with nature. What could be a better starting block for a summer wedding?” says Maribeth Grant, content manager at Borrowed & Blue.

Going Tahoe? Incorporate the natural environment into the event with some gorgeous birch veneer invitations such as these from Oblation Papers, or decorate with pine cones, thistle and wooden table numbers, a la Carrie and James’ wedding.

And the venue?

“We adore Tahoe Sierra Mountain Home, which allows for gorgeous outdoor ceremonies overlooking the water and is utterly secluded, making it perfect for an intimate affair,” says Grant. “Brides must check out this Lake Tahoe wedding venue!”

Pre- or post-wedding, guests can enjoy hikes, boating or biking through nature’s playground. Local towns such as Truckee are great day trips for even the most city of folk.

“From, of course, the stunning and immense alpine lake itself; the surrounding scenery to the multitude of gorgeous venues and talented vendors that call this place home, every bride has a different reasons for “why Tahoe?” says Grant.
