Warm Up Your Guests

foutas

By Marybeth Bizjak

Here’s an idea for your outdoor wedding: Buy a supply of foutas that your guests can throw around their shoulders if the weather turns cool. These hand-woven textiles, made of Egyptian cotton, traditionally are used as towels in Tunisian bathhouses. They come in a vast array of vivid colors—pinks, lavenders, blues, greens and more—and vibrant stripes. Fold and stack them in a pile, or roll them up and put them in basket for guests to help themselves. Megan and Andrew Sullivan sell foutas imported from Tunisia at local pop-up markets, including Sacramento’s Midtown Farmers Market, River City Marketplace and Urban Air Market in San Francisco. Cost: $25 for one, $100 for five.
