Everyone talks about wanting “the wedding of their dreams,” but how do those fantasies become a waking reality? And isn’t one bride’s dream wedding another woman’s nuptial nightmare? If just thinking about all this is giving you flop sweat, why not take a breath and feast your eyes on what dreams may come at the Sacramento Couture Runway and Bridal show on Sunday, Aug. 17 from 1-5 p.m. at the Memorial Auditorium?
The show is the first of its kind to hit California’s capital, and it’s sure to wow even the most skeptical, skittish marrieds-to-be. The event will include booths upon booths of vendors at the top of their wedding game to help you hone in on exactly what you want for the big day. Ice cream catering? You got it. Retro photo booth? Yep. Custom stationary? Check. A barber so the groom can get cleaned up before all those photos that will haunt you forever—I mean, last a lifetime? Oh, yeah.
If you prefer to do your vendor shopping with a drink in hand, let Classique Catering (the Memorial Auditorium’s onsite caterer) sate you with signature drinks like the Blushing Bride Peachtini and keep your energy up with appealing appetizers like Honeymoon Hoisin Barbecued Duck.
Once you’re fed, get ready to fête. Sit down and let visions of veils dance before your eyes during the runway show featuring gowns from Miosa’s 2015 Bridal Collection—some of the models are even brides themselves. (Don’t hate them because they’re so slender—love them for showing you such pretty dresses . . . and then slip them a snack.) You can also enter the drawing for a $5,000 Miosa gown if you’re a VIP ticket holder—how awesome would it be knock five grand off your wedding budget?
While this wedding wonderland is wonderful, the event’s main purpose is even more so: partial proceeds from the event will go to Wish Upon a Wedding, a nonprofit organization that provides weddings and vow renewals to couples facing terminal illness and serious life-altering circumstances. Talk about making someone’s dreams come true.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the show. VIP tickets are $75 and include a chance to win that snazzy Miosa gown, admission to the exclusive Lounge 75, preferred seating, an enticing swag bag and VIP signature drink service during the runway show. Did we mention you could win a $5,000 gown?!
