Cringe-Worthy Trends

A wedding planner’s job is to execute your ideas. Coordinating with vendors, scheduling tastings, developing the timeline—a planner makes the vision a seamless reality. But that doesn’t mean wedding planners don’t have opinions. . . . After countless bad color schemes, over-the-top-themes and one too many Harlem Shakes—they are entitled to them!

Inspired by Sandy Malone’s diatribe in Huffington Post, we reached out to local wedding planner Kendra Pfeiffer Wershing of Pfeiffer Event Planning for her list of trends she would be happy to see end.

“One of the obvious things that I’ve always hated is the cake smashing during the cake cutting,” says Wershing. “I’m also ready for the strapless gowns to go out of fashion, which I believe is currently happening.”

Kendra’s trends on the way out:

Mason jars for drinking and centerpieces
Burlap
Colored bridal shoes
Signature cocktails
Choreographed wedding party dances
Chair covers
