Introduced at a company Christmas party, they first became friends—which created a solid foundation for more.

WE’RE ENGAGED!—Nicholas planned to propose to Kolby on a hike to the Sierra Buttes Fire Lookout, but the day stretched long and they stopped at a vista point outside Sierraville to eat their picnic lunch, and out came the ring. “Was this real?” Kolby asked, surprised. He assured her it was and she said yes; they then began shouting to the valley, then to the bikers who had pulled into the vista point, “We just got engaged!” “She said yes!” “They all cheered for us,” says Kolby.

MIX AND MINGLE—“Two families become one/pick a seat, not a side,” said the sign at the wedding ceremony. Coupled with no assigned seating at the reception, it created an atmosphere where everyone could mingle freely.

ZIGGY THE RINGBEARER—The sweet dog Nicholas and Kolby adopted one month into their relationship wore a special pillow (made by Kolby’s mom) in his collar to hold the rings.

RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY—And it did. Just in time for the ceremony, and it didn’t return till after the reception. Perfect for an outdoor wedding.
