HOW THEY MET: While working as a funeral director and embalmer, Shawntel met a client who thought he knew the perfect guy for her. She agreed to a blind date with Paolo.
WHERE THEY GOT ENGAGED: At Paolo’s home, after a date at Apple Hill. She made him propose again in front of their families at dinner that night.
NEAR MISS: After a two-season run as a popular contestant on TV’s “The Bachelor,” Shawntel was in talks to star in “The Bachelorette.” Unbeknownst to her, her future husband had been signed up by his sister to compete on “The Bachelorette” and was going through the interview process. Both independently decided not to go through with the show. The timing wasn’t right for either of them. But fate wanted them together. “I don’t need ABC to find my husband,” Shawntel says.
A MOMENT OF PEACE: It can be hard for a bride or groom to catch their breath during the commotion of the wedding. That’s why their wedding planner suggested taking 10 minutes alone together after walking down the aisle. The couple sat in a private room and shared a drink before returning to the crowd. Shawntel found it to be a much-appreciated respite from the party. “We just got to enjoy the pleasure of finally being husband and wife.”
